I've been with BREMC for 3 years and have never had a late payment. We recently moved to another location and transferred our service with them. Per the agent I spoke with, we simply needed to take our modem, hook it up and everything would be switched over. The electric would switch as well. I was never told that I would need to add my "new" account to my portal. I recently received a past due bill and called to inquire about it, as I never skipped a payment. I was told it was in my "new" account and I should have added that to my portal. I was also charged a service fee. I asked for the fee to be waived as I've never been late on a payment. I was told they would not waive the fee, as I am a "new" customer and need to have service with them for a year on my "new" account. Horrible customer service to loyal paying customers. If I could go with someone else I would. I wish I could charge them a service fee for all the times my power was out at my old home in the Hanging Dog area.

I had a wonderful experience with Sapphire Hunley - Customer Service. She was pleasant, understanding and went out of her way to ensure everything was complete.

We couldn’t be more disappointed in our short experience with BRME.
We ordered fiber Internet for a new build back in early-mid December. At that point we were told that it would be 8-10 weeks until we could get Internet because “we are short on crew” and “we have a whole construction phase where we have to run cables underground from the street to the house”.
Okay fair enough.

Except that was the first lie: when we told our builder to warn clients in advance of the extensive delay and why, they said the cables were already run to the house with the underground electric cables so that didn’t need to be done and that BRME knew this.
When I asked BRME why they were misleading people I was curtly told “well there is construction they have to do”.

Turns out the “construction” they have to do is drilling a cable box to the exterior of the house (this is separate from actual installation/hookup).
And in our case they drilled it too far away from the blue cat 5 cable so when the internet guys from BRME came 2+ months after my initial call to hook up the internet they had to messily splice on a piece of cable with cheap white tape to get it to reach the box. (See pics)

Here’s lie #2: the BRME install guys actually said BRME did not install that cable box and they didn’t know where it came from. Except we have photos from the day of closing on the NEW BUILD house and the cable box is not there so who else would have installed it?
Also one can see that it was mounted on our appt date 2/14/24 as noted on the interior of the box, 10 days prior to installer visit.
In reality we are guessing they didn’t want to move it and be responsible for holes in our siding so they claimed their company did not install it.

Lie #3 came when the install guys realized that they would need to drill through the house to get power to the box. They said they don’t drill through houses to hook up internet. They stated that we would have to hire an electrician to run an exterior outlet on that side of the house to get power to the plug.
I’ve never seen a power outlet next to a cable box for fiber internet and have never heard of this being a requirement. One would think if it was a requirement that the builder would have installed one since this builder has completed hundreds of homes in the area that BRME covers.
We have fiber on our other house and the installers drilled through the wall and hooked everything up just fine without us having to install an exterior outlet.

When I contacted our builder they said BRME is responsible for drilling the hole and running the wires through the basement to the white box where everything is connected.
The builder also said they have NEVER heard of a client having to install an outlet before or after the fact.

So basically we now temporarily have a bright orange extension cord that we luckily had in the garage running from our ghetto white tape spliced-in cable box running to the outlet on the front of our house so we could finally get internet after 2+ months. (See pics)

When I called BRME the rep stated that yes they do drill through houses and that it sounded like we got bad installers. She was actually super nice and sympathetic, though I’m sure she’s tired of fielding customer complaints all day.
The rep called the install manager who then stated that even to get someone from the company back out there to even look at the issues would be $75 and to move the box THAT THEY MESSED UP would be another $75.
How do we know that we won’t get the same installers who don’t want to follow the proper protocol then we have to pay more?
How is this okay? We are extremely frustrated.

I’m writing this not to be spiteful but to warn others that they need to watch for lack of integrity with this company.
Make sure that you understand BEFORE they arrive what they are responsible for because once they are gone you will incur additional costs.
Watch very carefully also when they dig in your yard as apparently they are great at shredding cables/pipes.

This review is for awful pricing. I have a barn on my property and BRMEC wants $60 a month for a membership fee, one for my house and one for the barn. This is a disgusting scam. Unfortunately this horrible rip off company is a monopoly.

Power went out from major storm. Staff at office were nothing but polite and understanding. Crew was there within 12 hours. There were thousands of people without power and we were a small enclave of homes out of the many. Thank you so much to everyone at Blue Ride Mountain EMC for working on a holiday to get our power back on.
