Strong recommendation for NLHE tutoring with Daniel O'Connell. Daniel's been my tutor for two months now. I started out as a beginner who roughly knew the rules but not any strategy. I kept losing to my friends who themselves were beginners. In a very short amount of time, Daniel imparted to me a wealth of strategy and the why behind the strategy. Daniel will also give detailed feedback on hand histories and arrive at general lessons that are directly relevant to how you are actually playing. I now beat friends easily, and against competent players in small stakes online cash games, I'm at least breaking even. I find that when I'm doing poorly in the cash games, it's often due to my emotions getting in the way or my not remembering all the strategy that he taught (there is a lot of strategy). Moments like these reinforce the value of the strategies. I look forward to continually improving my skill under his tutelage.

I hired Daniel for poker tutoring.

I had never played cards, knew nothing about Hold'em and had three days to learn and then play for a business opportunity.

Daniel asked me what I knew, and then we went from there. He absolutely knows what he's doing. He knows his stats, he knows the game and he knew I was starting from 0.

Turns out I did loose my buy-in (just my original buy-in), but I stayed in the game the whole night, and when I told the table at the end that it was my first poker game I got a ton of compliments and a lot of surprised looks, not kidding.

It couldn't have gone better.

Definitely worth it if you're just starting out or even if you want to get a whole lot smarter on the game. I play with friends and associates all the time now, it's great, I love it.
