Gatos Trail really is a special place to record.
From the location, the studio and accommodation you can't ask for more.
We spent a week recording with Dan out in Joshua Tree and threw all sorts of crazy recording ideas and setups at him which he handled flawlessly, all with great humor and professionalism.
The location inspires creativity and to sit and star gaze (with a glass of vino) at the end of the evening is magical.
The onsite accommodation also is wonderful and to be able to walk from the studio to make lunch/dinner/cocktails makes the experience so effortless you just want to move in.
Sorry Dan, you're moving out! ?

One of the best studio experiences of my entire career/life. Location is other-worldly-beautiful, gear is top notch and inspiring, and Dan was everything you could ever hope for in an engineer - attentive, respectful, knowledgeable, efficient, positive, supportive - list goes on. Every sound/idea we thought of, he’d have us ready to go within minutes. Accommodations on site couldn’t have been more gorgeous, clean and comfortable. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to have been able to work and hang there. Can’t recommend enough.

I absolutely loved Gatos Trail! Me and my crew stayed out there for 4 days to cut a full length LP with Drums, Bass, Guitar, and Keys all live-tracking together. Dan and his assistant Aaron were super knowledgeable engineers, and were very accommodating towards us. The studio is an absolute beauty and even just the raw recordings sounded fantastic running through their analog gear. Regarding the housing situation, it was very comfortable stay. I slept very well, and the whole property had such the right vibe for a good time. Will definitely be back to work there again.

As a musician traveling from the ice tundra that is Minneapolis MN during the long winter… you simply couldn’t ask for a better location to spend a few days stay and record. The set up at Gatos Trail is fantastic and working with Dan was a great vibe. Hospitality and use of the home for a band to stay on site made our productive time super efficient… and after session record listening sessions kept us inspired with ideas. The studio set up was also perfect for what we as a band were looking for. Isolation of amps, gear and drums on site to use and great tones made our long weekend incredibly fun… giving us some downtime to get out and enjoy the area and walk amongst the Joshua trees.

gatos trails is a great studio with a great owner / engineer, set in such a beautiful landscape. it is just a wonderful place to record. my group did 2 days of recording and left with what became our first full length album. sitting outside, listening to the playback stream out over the desert was an experience I will never forget
