I needed to convert some old hi-8 video cassettes, like the kind that was typical for home use in the 90's and 2000's, to digital files. Videos of birthday parties, Christmas, etc. Emmanuel explained to me how he would do it & answered all of my questions. A few days later I had the files on two USB drives!

His studio is capable of much, much more than this project, but this is what I needed done. He was happy to help me and made sure I left satisfied. Five star experience.

Emmanuel Bernard, Director/Cinematographer/Photographer/, made a video to celebrate my wife’s 75th birthday. I gave him photographs, home movies, songs, and video clips from family members and friends, and he went to work. He put it all together with off the charts creativity. I have never met anyone who enjoys his work as much as he does, and his enthusiasm is matched only by his attention to detail. Ordinarily, the pursuit of perfection is the enemy of the possible, as perfectionists never seem to finish what they start. But not in Mr. Bernard’s case. He harness a powerful work ethic to the pursuit of perfection, and he delivers the goods. He involved me in the final edits, and I spent several hours by his side, watching him work his magic. I got to see how much he cares about his job, how diligently he strives to get every detail exactly right, and how brilliantly he succeeds. I had had my father’s 8mm movies transferred to DVD some years ago. I was never really happy with the job that was done, but never tried to do anything about it, and eventually got rid of the original films.
Later, I decided to see if anything could be done to improve the DVDs. Not really expecting that anything could be done, I found A&E on line and went to consult with Emmanuel.
Well - he bombarded me with talk about all the great work he does and what a poor job the previous person had done on my movies, and how wonderful he could make my disks. I couldn’t understand much of what he said, but I foolishly let him talk me into signing a contract for $210 for each of 5 disks.
Months and months, and many iterations later, I got my finished product. What he had done was: 1. Converted the files to .MOV files that can be played with QuickTime instead of with the obscure software that was resident on the original DVDs, and 2. Edited some chapter headings per my request.
The quality of the videos was not improved at all, and all the menus were gone. This was totally unexpected. We had talked about menu items at length. When I complained, he told me menu software won’t run on newer Macs because…. [a lot of words that didn’t make sense]. Now he tells me! But, he says, he could give me menus with up to 5 chapters on each disk, with chapter headings no longer than 3 words.
Except for being playable on QuickTime, this is way worse than I started with. $1,050 seems very high for just converting the format of 5 files.
I’d like to charge him for all the time he spent talking my ears off to no point.

Emanuel, the owner and proprietor, has been serving the community for many years. He has shot a multi-camera live concert video for our church choir recording, and has produced and duplicated various dvd and cd projects for us as well. His work is always quality, and quick.
