Their design was ok. Because they were so unpleasant to work with, about half way through schematics I informed Kristina that I wanted to bid the structural design. She cancelled the contract so I was out $15,000. We agreed they would work with my wife. The did not finish the schematics and applied our deposit to the balance , essentially cancelling the contract. I was out about $30,000. I asked for the cad drawings and they refused, only giving me the license to use their design. Spiteful. At our second or third meeting Kristina was upset because they had a “bad week” with another customer. They even had the specific location of the court to file lawsuits at in their contract. Unless you are willing to risk tens of thousands of dollars, I strongly suggest finding an alternative firm to work with.

Klar & Klar Architects produce beautiful and thoughtfully designed buildings that are not only visually appealing, but functional. Below are two projects that we contracted with K&K on (orange is our organization's signature color). The first image shows a rendering of the HEP Service Building and the second image is a photo of the final product. The Service Building is the heart of HEP's campus. It is open to the public and also houses our administrative and case management staff, along with a wide range of support service staff. We always receive complements on the building design. Visitors love the fact that it was designed with many recycled and eco-friendly materials.

The third image is a "before" shot of our HEP Community Center, and the final image is the "after" shot once Klar & Klar helped us to convert the outdated building into a state of the art Adult Education Center. The Community Center "before" was essentially a large open space with a small kitchen. K&K added a beautiful large breakroom, several computer labs/classrooms and office space in addition to a significant exterior face lift.

We would highly recommend Klar & Klar for all of your architectural needs. In addition to producing beautiful work, their entire team is great to work with, creative and also have a heart for serving the local community!

Parc Center for Disabilities

PARC is a nonprofit organization serving children and adults with developmental disabilities for over 65 years in Pinellas County. PARC has been doing business with Klar & Klar for many years.
