My visit to get my driver's license today was seamless. I made an appoint online, so easy. The site had everything listed for me as to what to bring with me.
I was checked in on time and seen immediately. Fantastic staff, very efficient, and helpful.
Pleasantly surprised.

Every time I had an interaction here it was great. Actual people to talk to, straightforward answers, not trying to rush me out. Giving me advice based on what I’ll probably see next (if what I was doing was a process). I lived in Virginia my whole life and dealt with people at the VADMV that I think were paid to make matters worse in all cases. Not in Florida though, specifically the Niceville Okaloosa County Tax Collector/DMV. I am headed back to VA again for work, and if I could id leave everything registered here.

When we moved to Florida from Oklahoma in 2023 we had to come here to get everything switched over. We were extremely impressed how clean and nice this facility was and how organized the run things here at this office. You can just walk in and take care of what you need and leave in a very short time. They move fast and always have a smile. Our family has had to return to this office to take care of many things and each time we were treated respectfully and the workers moved at a great pace. I highly recommend utilizing this tax collector office for your needs.

Just turn around and drive home if you are stuck in traffic and will arrive 5 minutes past your scheduled time. Don't even waste your time trying to check in. The apathetic NPC receptionist WILL turn you away even if you are 5 minutes and 1 second late, and she does not care. Their website and the online appointment app do not mention this rule. Most places have a 15 minute grace period for appointments but apparently not here.

Made an appointment to get my passport. Jim called me to let me know what items to bring the day before my appointment. The process was super easy as Jim explained everything as we went along. It was really easy and alleviated a lot of stress. I appreciate the step by step help.

Been in their facility multiple times, always very polite awaits never too long, having mood from Colorado Springs as well as Michigan, Niceville office is really well run. If I have somebody that has had a bad day or isn't polite I leave it in the comments box that each one on their desk has make sure to ask the name because sometimes they're sitting at somebody else's desk so don't just assume that's the person and ding them. But overall a very clean and well-managed facility that is not afraid to go out of their way to explain the intricacies of all the various Services they provide.

Trying to get endorsements on my class A license. I was informed that I’d need a background check to get one of them. Unfortunately, the Niceville office is the only one capable of processing the background check and they are closed until the 10th of sept. Due to their parking lot being resurfaced. Went to the dmv in crestview to take the tests and conveniently their DL system went down and couldn’t take my exams. The plan was to take my exams and go to Niceville after they opened to get my background check completed. While in crestview I was informed that Niceville office extended its closure for another 2 weeks! I’m trying to get a job that needs the endorsements before I can be hired. I can not wait a whole month to get these endorsements. Why aren’t arrangements made to move processes that can only be done at this office while it’s closed? Why do they need a month to resurface the parking lot.

In lieu of this major inconvenience and incompetence I tried to make an appointment to take care of these services in Santa Rosa county, however they will not complete any services for anyone outside of their county unless your county coordinated with them that they have closures and needed co-county cooperation to take care of services. Unfortunately okaloosa county has not informed Santa Rosa county that they can’t do background checks.

Therefore this leaves me with having to drive more than 100 miles round trip to escambia county in order to get this simple task completed so that I can obtain a job that is in high demand.

In summation I’d like to have answers as to why forethought was not given to the ability to complete services that can happen only at the Niceville office while the office was going to be closed.
It would be nice to know why the office needs to be closed for a month for the resurfacing of a parking lot and why sections couldn’t be done at time so that they could remain open.

Poor planning, poor communication, poor execution. Plain and simple.
